FESTIVAL CELEBRATING TRADITIONAL DANCING FROM ALBANIA, CROATIA, MACEDONIA, ROMANIA, SERBIA, ETC.

We are grateful for the information we received from Gordon Beal about a forthcoming dance event. Here is the information he sent us... 'Meet Gordon on Saturday 12 October between 7 and 7.15pm at Camden Town tube station (Northern Line, Zone 2) to go to Cecil Sharp House, 2 Regent's Park Road, NW1, for the Annual Festival of Traditional Dance. The evening programme includes different types of dance, which are demonstrated, and then it is intended that people participate. From 7pm (until 10pm), in the basement, the Zivko Firfov Dance Group will be demonstrating Balkan dances from the former Yugoslavia area (Serbia, Croatia, Macedonia) and probably other South-East European countries such as Greece, Albania and Romania. From 8pm (until 11pm), on the ground floor, the Old Hat Band, a traditional English band, will demonstrate English Barn Dancing and Ceilidh.

You need to pay £5 (five pounds) entrance, and this is good for both dance events. [Over the whole weekend (from 11am on Saturday and 12 noon on Sunday), over 30 dance groups from around the world will give demonstrations. I have chosen the Saturday evening as one of my events, but anyone wishing to attend in the daytime, please note that the cost is £5 each day and £5 for the evening, but this is reduced to £12 for anyone attending the entire weekend. Further details, if required, are obtainable from the English Folk Dance and Song Society on 020-7485 2206.' All sounds like a very educational event, with many interesting dance sessions!
