November 16 2002, Saturday, 10.30am-5pmWATERCOLOURS OF BRITAIN, INDIA, RUSSIA AND NON-DOMESTIC ANIMALS FEATURE IN SOLO SHOW BY SCOTTISH ARTIST, SALLY OYLER AT LENNOX GALLERY IN FULHAMWe counted six paintings downstairs and seven paintings upstairs that feature tigers/tigresses. Other non-domestic animals - including camels and cows - are also on show at Sally Oyler's second solo show at the Fulham-based Lennox Gallery. The artist, in her early forties, has put together a wonderful collection of 57 watercolours that highlight "Mystical India" (the title of her current exhibition), the churches of St. Petersburg and - closer to home - scenes of the Forth Rail bridge, Tresco and the Isle of Jura. Our favourites are "Indian family with elephant & baby" (64cm x 49cm, £1,450) and the colourful "St Isaacs, St Petersburg, by moonlight" (65cm x 54cm, £1,550) with a large, golden dome. The other picture of St Petersburg is "Spilled Blood spires, St Petersburg."
And turning towards India, we note that camels
can be seen through several of her pictures, including "Camels at sunset" and
"Camel and breakfast." As for "Sacred Cows", these can be seen - both
on the ground floor and in the basement of the gallery. Prices of her other paintings
range from £480 to £2,950. Go along, to be a part of the mystery of India, and you could
come away the happy purchaser of one or two of Sally's pictures. Telephone the gallery on
020 7736 3326 for more information, if required. Location: The Lennox Gallery, 77 Moore
Park Road, London, SW6. Tube station: Fulham Broadway (District line). Buses: 14 and 211.
