February 5 2003, Wednesday, 6.45pm-7pm for 7.30pmCITY UNIVERSITY'S "SEKAR ENGGAL" - MUSIC AND ROD PUPPETRY FROM INDONESIA, FOLLOWED BY VISIT TO PUBOnce again we are grateful for hteL subscriber, Gordon Beal's e-mail message - sent through the Kensington International Society (KIS) e-mail group. Here is what says, 'Meet Gordon on Wednesday 5th February between 6.45 and 7pm at Angel tube station (Northern Line, Zone 1) near ticket office to go to City University (Performance Area, Music Department, entrance in St John's Street) for a performance of music and puppetry from Sunda (from West Java, Indonesia), including gamelan degung, kacapi suling and wayang golek, performed by Sekar Enggal - see the performers' interesting website for detailed explanation: http://www.sekarenggal.co.uk The performance starts at 7.30 and costs £2.50 (two pounds fifty pence) for students and £5 (five pounds) for others.
There are only 50 seats, of which about 15 have been booked already. Therefore I suggest you reserve your seat(s) as soon as possible by calling Concerts Administrator Kathryn McCutcheon on 020-7040 8097 (leaving a message if necessary) or e-mailing her at... - as long as your name is on the list, you can pay on the door. After the 90 minute performance, those who wish can join Gordon for a drink at The Bull in St John's Street.' Sounds like an interesting and educational event in London EC1.
