NINA GRUSCHWITZ - TALENTED ARTIST, FROM RUSSIA'S ST. PETERSBURG - EXHIBITS "NEW PAINTINGS.".. ABSTRACT ACRYLICS, 'INSPIRED BY MUSIC AND POETRY, DRIVEN BY EMOTIONS' IN SECOND SOLO SHOW IN LONDON, AFTER HAVING WORKED IN GERMANY & HOLLAND

One Monday evening, earlier this month, we were lucky enough to dash across town to a artist's private view taking place in a venue we had never been to - Cotton's Atrium, which is located between London Bridge and Hays Galleria. We approached the venue's large glass facade, that overlooks the River Thames, with some delight as we could see a number of people milling around a labyrinth of screens, each of which contained a number of colourful paintings. Later, we were to find out, the screens held abstract acrylics, by Russian artist, Nina Gruschwitz. Currently, Nina is an Artist in Residence in River Walk OXO Tower Wharf, on London's South Bank - not too far from today's event. A quote from her press release, states, << 'Inspired by music and poetry, driven by emotions,' she says, 'my paintings must cry the drama of the human condition'>>, which not only sums up her ten years of post-academic artistic experience in Germany, Holland and London, but also her warm and emotional welcome - full of "feeling" - to myself and dozens of others, that attended that evening's viewing.

Looking at her paintings, of various sizes... They are very colourful abstract acrylics that range in price from £450 up to £1,950, with several at £1,750. One painting, Nina pointed out to several of us, standing near it, was "Let us Fly" (£1,750). She said that it was inspired by the theatre and music. Our favourite, though, was the smaller-sized, "Waking up with you" (£450). We liked the way it colourfully portrayed swirling greens and various shades of red. And what about "Salsa Fire"? Go along and see for yourself. Location: Cottons Atrium, London Bridge City, Tooley Street, London, SE1. Tube Station: London Bridge (Jubilee & Northern lines).
