April 5 2003, Saturday, 2pm-5.30pmGROUP EXHIBITION OF ART FROM RUSSIA, WHICH FEATURES ISLE OF CAPRI & SPORTS, TO END THIS COMING WEDNESDAYToday is the last Saturday (what has been a popular day for hteL subscribers to visit exhibitions at art galleries) to view "Symposium: Three Artists from St. Petersburg", a group show of three artists: Genia Chef, Georgy Guryanov and Olga Tobreluts. We had a chance to chat with the former, when we saw his impressive works on view at a commercial art gallery, not far from Pimlico's Tate Gallery of British Art. Genia Chef's works range in price from six pieces at £500 and one entitled "Diana & Victoria", at £2,000. We enjoyed the various shades of browns and whites in the latter, inspired - in parts - by the Isle of Capri and by imagination. This large 100cm x 180cm digital print on canvas features clouds, coastal scenes, nudes, sky, statues and water.
Georgy Guryanov has three works on show: "The Javelin Thrower"; "The Diver" and "The Tractor Driver", each priced at £4,000. Olga Tobreluts is the artist, with most on show - ten pieces of digital images on plastic that feature "Sacred Figures" and which range in price from £2,000 to £3,000. Go along and discover more on this special anniversary year for St. Petersburg. All listed prices exclude VAT. Admission free. Exhibition ends: 9 April 2003, Wednesday. Telephone the gallery on 020 7834 1434 for more information, if required. Location: Long & Ryle, 4 John Islip Street, London, SW1. Tube station: Pimlico (Victoria line). http://www.long-and-ryle.demon.co.uk
