April 8 2003, Tuesday, 8pm-9pmTO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL ROMANI DAY - AND TO HELP CHARITY, TAMLIN WALENN PRESENTS "GYPSY POETRY: FROM JOURNEYS ACROSS THE WORLD" AT POPULAR CAFÉ IN EARL'S COURTTamlin Walenn performs and presents a selection of gypsy poetry in an event that has been headlined as, "The Roads Of The Roma." Yes, you are invited to a poetry recital, lasting an hour or so, to celebrate International Romani Day. And with this being an international day, the poetry recited comes from various countries and more specifically, from various "journeys across the world." As a bit of a clue of what to expect, the poster - announcing the event, quotes, 'A life of wandering forwards, backwards along the roads that time forgot.'
Our suggestion is that you get to the Old Brompton Road in good time to get a comfortable seat upstairs, in the recently enlarged and well-known café. Admission: £4, to include free drinks - with profits going to charity. Location: The Troubadour Café, 265 Old Brompton Road, Earl's Court, London, SW5. Tube station: Earl's Court (District line).
