August 10 2003, Sunday, 10.30am-3pmSCULPTOR, OKO - FROM NIGERIA, PLUS THREE ARTISTS: BERKSHIRE-BASED GOOD, SURREY-BASED JELLEY (WITH WORKS FEATURING SCENES OF SOUTH AFRICA & THAILAND) ALONG WITH WEST KENSINGTON-BASED LICUDI, EXHIBIT AT MAYFAIR'S "54 THE GALLERY"Last day to see an exhibition comprising large sculptures by Eje Okoro and a variety of paintings by Trudie Good, Susan Jelley and Vivienne Licudi. Eje's sculptures range from the small to the large. We were impressed by one of his "Solitude" series - placed in the gallery's front window, which looks over a pedestrian street within Mayfair's Shepherd Market. The larger bronze resin sculpture reminded us of "The Thinker." Priced at £2,700, it is one of a series of ten. Trudie, who lives and works in Berkshire, is showing a collection of charcoal and pastels of figures and nudes. Susan has a number of pictures, including some of places she has visited in Africa and Asia.
Two acrylics, "The Oyster Catcher" and "Rough Sea - Durban" (each prices at £175) encapsulate scenes of South Africa, through a combination of blues, tans and mauves whilst the acrylic/pastel, "Nightfall" (£850, hanging in the gallery's downstairs) and "Pattaya" depict scenes of Thai riverbanks. One of our favourites was Vivienne's acrylic on board, "The Studio" (£550, also hanging in the gallery's downstairs). It is a still life, featuring bottle and fruit on table, near chair and window. Go along, enjoy and discover more. Admission free. Location: 54 The Gallery, Shepherd Market, London, W1. Tube station: Green Park (Jubilee, Piccadilly and Victoria lines). http://www.suejelley.co.uk (Sue) & http://www.configart.org (Vivienne)
