September 14 2003, Sunday, 2-2.15pm & 4pmDISCOVER SEVERAL LONDON BRIDGES, PARKS AND PUTNEY'S IRISH & SPANISH CONNECTIONS IN FREE FULHAM TO HAMMERSMITH WALK, FOLLOWED BY RIVERSIDE PUB VISIT PLUS POSSIBLE INTERNATIONAL TEA PARTY IN PRIVATE HOUSEJoin English-language teachers and pupils from various schools and colleges for a walk over bridges and through parks - from Fulham/Putney to Hammersmith - on, possibly, the last very good sunny day of the year. The plan is to visit Bishop's Park, including a quick stop-off at Museum of Fulham Palace. Afterwards we shall cross a little-used bridge from Fulham to Putney before exploring Wandsworth Park. After joining up with more walkers mid-afternoon - at East Putney tube station, we shall head westwards, along the river, to Hammersmith.
On the way your guide will point out several Irish and Spanish connections with the area. At Hammersmith everyone will have a chance to relax at a pub or two before - possibly - continuing on to Roehampton, via Barnes, for an international tea party. You are encouraged to tell and invite your friends, as many people are expected and 'the more, the better.' There are two meeting times and locations: 2pm at Putney Bridge tube station and 4pm at East Putney tube station. You can join and leave at any time and at any point. No need to reserve, just turn up wearing comfortable shoes!
