September 20 2003, Saturday, 11am-7pm (lectures: 12pm & 3pm)KENSINGTON-BASED COMMONWEALTH INSTITUTE HOSTS TWO LECTURES ON FIGURATIVE/PORTRAIT ART ALONGSIDE COMMERCIAL GALLERIES DISPLAYING DRAWINGS, PAINTINGS & SCULPTURES AT SIXTEENTH "20/21 BRITISH ART FAIR"Enjoy a day out at the sixteenth "20/21 British Art Fair", before it closes tomorrow (at the earlier time of 5pm!). It is an opportunity for you to discover over 60 exhibitors, most of which are commercial art galleries, displaying and selling art from England, Scotland and Wales (from the years 1900-2003). On show will be a wide selection of drawings, paintings, sculptures, etc. Included in this year's list of exhibiting galleries are: Advanced Graphics; Agnew's; Alan Cristea, Marlborough and Rebecca Hossack. Whatever time you decide to come along at, make sure you leave some time to attend one, or both, of the free lectures that take place in the afternoon.
They are: Philip Vann's lecture, "Portrait of an Era: The Ruth Borchard Collection of 100 Self-Portraits" at 12pm (midday) and William Feaver's "Figures: Paintings by Auerbach, Freud and Uglow" at 3pm. So, if you fancy a look around or if you want to buy something do drop in and see what is on offer from these and over 60 other galleries. Admission: £8 (concessions: £4).
