October 9 2004, Saturday, 10am-1pmPROVAN’S PAINTINGS, INSPIRED BY SCOTTISH SEASCAPES, ALONGSIDE ANDERSON’S FIGURATIVE WORKS ON VIEW IN CORK STREETRecently several
galleries in Mayfair have been exhibiting works by Scottish artists. We
recently visited one such gallery, that of MacLean Fine Art’s exhibition
of artists Jennifer Anderson and Donald Provan at the Arndean Gallery in
Cork Street. An interesting variety of work has been produced by both
artists. Anderson has a range of full-body and head and shoulder
portraits of – what the gallery’s promotional brochure describes as,
‘friends, lovers, strangers’ on show. And, if you are looking for
imaginative paintings, filled with realistic detail of Scottish
seascapes, etc., you will appreciate the works of the other artist on
show - Fife artist, Provan, whom we met and talked to at the
exhibition’s opening reception, late last month.
Amazingly, we
discovered that, he is able to paint many of his realistically-looking
paintings from memory, having experienced the freshness and colours of
Scotland’s seasides throughout various seasons, as well as times of day!
So, when you take peek, on the exhibition’s last day, just think of
Scotland! Promote YOUR event, £11.75 or free! | Return to October 2004 ArchivesSubscribe, hteL GOLD, £4 month/£47 year (or free, if you become a HowToEnjoy.BIZ reseller) |
