January 29 2005, Saturday, 2pmDAY AFTER OPENING OF VIDEO & INSTALLATION EXHIBITION - DEDICATED TO JAPANESE ARTIST, SATOM - SHE IS IN CONVERSATION WITH KAMIYA (ASSOCIATE CURATOR OF NEW YORK’S NEW MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART) AT GALLERY IN SOUTH-EAST LONDONOne of the press
releases, we recently received, tells us about the first UK solo
presentation (which opened yesterday) of video and installation work by
Japanese artist, Saki Satom. It states, ‘Satom’s work explores patterns
of human behaviour that are particular to large urban centres, often
focusing on codes and practices that tend to go largely unnoticed. She
creates situations that allow her to interact with the public in ways
that unexpectedly expose those patterns and cast them in a fresh light.
And her works highlight minor incidents that turn out, on closer
examination, to be surprising, even at times extraordinary. She says of
her practice: "I want to view our daily routines from a slightly
different angle and by so doing show that they may hold hidden
possibilities."’
And you can learn more
this afternoon, about what Saki Satom has to say, when she is interviewed by
Yukie Kamiya, the Associate Curator of New York’s New Museum of Contemporary
Art. Go along and learn more. Promote YOUR event, £11.75 or free! | Return to January 2005 ArchivesSubscribe, hteL GOLD, £4 month/£47 year (or free, if you become a HowToEnjoy.BIZ reseller) |
